Christian Distinctiveness, vision and values
Our School vision is at the centre of our decisions for our pupils and staff. It has been agreed by our stakeholders.
'We believe in giving our children and staff the chance to flourish in a nurturing environment with excellent opportunities. We want everyone to experience success and make a positive difference to the world around them.'
Our school bible verse is;
' For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.' Jeremiah 29:11
At Martock Church School, we are proud of our Christian Distinctiveness. Everyone is welcome in our school, all faiths, world views or none. We endeavour to live out our school vision so that every child can flourish, with a hope and future. We serve families from our local community, with visits from members of faiths including churches, charities and businesses.
Our vision is at the heart of all we do, our partnerships, our Trust Local Committee, outside agencies and of course, the children.
Our school is an inclusive, welcoming place for children of all backgrounds. As a Church of England school, our values are linked to the Bible.;
Kindness- Linked to the Good Samaritan (Luke 10)
Perserverance - as shown by the friends of the paralysed man (Mark 2)
Respect - as demonstrated in the story of The Roman Centurion ( Matthew 8)
Collaboration - as shown by Noah and his family as they built the ark (Genesis 6-9)
SIAMS
We welcomed the SIAMS inspector to our school on 18th September 2024 to identify how we are upholding our Christian Distinctiveness. We are proud of our report and feedback.
SIAMS
Courageous Advocacy
Part of our vision is that children can make a difference to the world around them. We encourage the children to speak out when the children spot injustice, inequality and for those whose voices are not heard.
At Martock Church School, we believe that we should enable all children to be able to do this, no matter their age or background. We build in opportunities through our Martock Passport, extra oppportunities to celebrate making a difference. Our school council explore opportunities that are close to our hearts, planning carefully a way to make a difference.
For example;
- Making films to ask members of the community to turn off car engines
- Running a crazy hair day to support the Princess Trust
- Setting up and running a lunchtime book club for children who might not read at home.
- Following our No Outsiders programme to speak out against injustice, remembering the Protected characteristics
